The Baltimore Ravens are searching for a productive wide receiver to produce along with Zay Flowers.
According to the Baltimore Ravens website, one particular wide receiver is expected to have a breakout year in 2026.
His name is Devontez Walker.
Walker went to the University of North Carolina and Kent State University before being drafted by the Ravens in 2024. Devontez Walker was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round.
Devontez Walker’s Career so Far
“Walker has needed patience over his first two seasons, but the wait may be over.” Ryan Mink wrote in the Baltimore Ravens article.
“His first three NFL catches all went for touchdowns, including two in Week 2 versus the Cleveland Browns last year. But after that game, Walker only saw four targets over the next nine games. He ended on a high note, however, catching a 38-yard touchdown in Pittsburgh in the regular-season finale.”
Walker played two seasons at Kent State University before transferring to the University of North Carolina. At Kent State, he recorded 58 catches, 921 yards and 11 touchdowns. At North Carolina, he recorded 41 catches, 699 yards, and 7 touchdowns.
With Tylan Wallace out of the door, it could be Walker’s time to step up. The Ravens will be looking for Rashod Bateman and Devontez Walker to step up and be the players the Ravens know they can be.
“With DeAndre Hopkins still on the free-agent market and Tylan Wallace in Cleveland, the Ravens’ No. 3 receiver spot is wide open. The Ravens could still draft a wide receiver early or sign a veteran. But for now, Walker is the clear favorite.” Mink wrote. “Walker has rare speed and the ability to stretch the field, which should be a good fit in Declan Doyle’s explosive offense.”
Other Baltimore Ravens Receiver Must Step Up in 2026
Zay Flowers has been Lamar Jackson’s number one target since Flowers came into the league. As one of the league’s most underpaid players, he has lived up to his first-round expectations.
The first-round draft pick in 2023 caught 86 passes in the 2025 season. Flowers ranked 7th in total receiving yards with 1,211. In 2023, he recorded 858 yards and 5 touchdowns. In 2024, he recorded 1,059 yards and 4 touchdowns. Out of all of Baltimore’s receivers over the past three years, Flowers has been the most consistent.
“Flowers has already outperformed the expectations tied to his rookie deal. A former first-round selection and now a two-time Pro Bowler, he has quickly become one of Lamar Jackson’s most reliable and explosive weapons. Production like that doesn’t typically come at a bargain, yet Baltimore is currently benefiting from exactly that.” Geoffrey A Knox wrote in a Ravens Wire article.
Many expected Rashod Bateman to have a breakout year in 2025, but he fell short of expectation. As a result, the Ravens were limited in their pass game.
Bateman played all 17 games for the Ravens in 2024. The Ravens wideout recorded nine touchdowns and racked up 756 yards during the 2024 season. Bateman only had 19 receptions for 224 yards in the 2025 season. While injuries played a role, he played in 13 of the Ravens’ 17 games in 2025.
When it comes to stepping up, Zay Flowers has faith in Devontez Walker.
“Oh, Tez is ready. Tez is going to step up this year,” Zay Flowers said in the Baltimore Ravens article. “He’s attacking everything,” Flowers said. “He knows there’s a fire under him. We have to go now. You’re up.”
