Report: Chelsea dressing room source shares how some players truly see Liam Rosenior

Liam Rosenior has fostered a positive culture within the Chelsea dressing room, with several players praising his personable management style amid the pressure.

Liam Rosenior has taken a human-first approach that has garnered respect within a notoriously difficult dressing room. From day one, he has been clear on his communication, with players like Enzo Fernandez speaking highly of Rosenior since taking charge.

This personable touch has been vital in navigating disciplinary issues, such as his firm yet calm handling of Enzo Fernandez’s recent Chelsea suspension.

In the media, Rosenior has been equally composed, using his press conferences to protect his players. However, it has been this sort of calm approach from Rosenior that has seen him receive criticism at times, suggesting he’s not been harsh enough after suspensions.

Some Chelsea players like Liam Rosenior’s calm approach

A dressing room source has told The Athletic that while all players are going to be frustrated when they are not picked, there is an appreciation from some players of the manner in which Rosenior talks to squad members, and he is seen as a ‘nice guy’.

That’s one positive about Rosenior, he can turn it on and call his players out when they’re in the wrong, but he also has the man-management side of things on lock.

He quite easily could have crumbled under the pressure from fans to reverse Fernandez’s suspension for the Manchester City clash.

Liam Rosenior muddies with water surrounding Enzo Fernandez

Ahead of the Manchester City clash, Liam Rosenior hasn’t helped himself in terms of the Fernandez situation, as his update has left fans with more questions than answers.

“I made a decision. What I want is for Enzo to go on and have an amazing career, but he won’t play on Sunday.

“I had three or four really good chats with Enzo. We’ll deal with [it] after a massive game on Sunday.

“It was a serious meeting about something serious. I’m not questioning his character or who he is as a person, but I believe people make mistakes and you can’t overstep the punishment for the mistake.

“There’s still a few obstacles we need to get through but I won’t go into that.”
