Seahawks Urged to Target Violent RB as Day 3 Sleeper

Fansided's 12th Man Rising's Jonathan Eig named Toledo running back Chip Trayanum a sleeper the Seattle Seahawks should target in the sixth round.

Outside of their draft picks late in each of the first three rounds, the Seattle Seahawks have just one other selection in the 2026 NFL Draft. They have to make it, and their first four picks, count.

That will require the Seahawks finding a sleeper with their last selection, which will come in the sixth round at No. 188 overall.

On Friday, Fansided’s 12th Man Rising’s Jonathan Eig identified three sleepers, including Toledo running back Chip Trayanum.

“At Toledo, he put it all together in 2025. He ran for over 1,000 yards and 5.6 yards per carry,” wrote Eig. “He caught 21 passes for another 200+ yards. Trayanum found the end zone 14 times.

“Trayanum is a powerhouse. 5’10” and 224 pounds, his 27 bench press reps at the combine would have looked good for most linebacker prospects. He will grind out tough yards and make defenders pay a price for tackling him.”

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projected Trayanum as a sixth-round pick. So, based on that projection, he’s not really a sleeper at No. 188 overall.

But like Eig, Zierlein raved about the violent physical traits and leadership qualities the former Toledo running back possesses.

“Trayanum is built like a linebacker and, in fact, was a linebacker early in his career. He played at four schools over six seasons and was elected team captain in his lone season at Toledo,” wrote Zierlein. “He’s a pile-mover and body-blow puncher capable of wearing down defenses with his downhill physicality.”

How Projected Sixth-Round RB Chip Trayanum Could Fit With Seahawks

The Seahawks already have seven running backs on their offseason roster. They don’t need more depth; the team needs a starter.

At the very least, the Seahawks require a running back who could complement Zach Charbonnet and Emanuel Wilson. The latter could start at the beginning of the season depending on Charbonnet’s injury recovery.

For that reason, it’s not clear Trayanum fits. In Seattle, he could become just another running back in a long line of guys competing for the RB3 role.

“Trayanum would not be stepping into Kenneth Walker’s role with Seattle,” wrote Eig.

“He plays much more like Zach Charbonnet and Emanuel Wilson. Adding him in the sixth round might hint at some lingering concern over just how quickly Charbonnet can return to peak form after his ACL injury late last year.”

But the Seahawks could target Trayanum in the sixth round if they don’t find running back value in the first three rounds. Seattle could also address its defensive needs on the first two days of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Other Potential Sixth-Round Sleepers for Seahawks

On Friday, Eig also named two other potential sixth-round sleepers for the Seahawks — Toledo defensive back Andre Fuller and Georgia guard Micah Morris.

“At 6’1”, 200 pounds, [Fuller] has the size to play a classic perimeter role, and his versatility – he began college life as a safety and has looked comfortable playing in both zone and press-man schemes – would seem to make him a good fit in a Mike Macdonald defense, which prizes a DB’s ability to move around,” wrote Eig.

Morris played left guard at Georgia, which isn’t a need for the Seahawks. But Eig suggested Morris could flip to right guard. At the very least, he could provide interior offensive line depth in 2026.

Who the Seahawks target in the sixth round will likely depend on who the club grabs in the first three rounds. But whoever they target on Day 3, there’s pressure on the Seahawks to get it right since it’s the only pick they are going to make that day.
