The Arizona Cardinals made some significant signings in March to improve their team.

By signing former Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier, they vastly improved a rushing attack that was near the bottom of the league in 2025.

Allgeier signed a two-year, $12.25 million contract with Arizona. At the very least, Allgeier will serve as a 1-2 punch with veteran running back James Conner.

However, due to Conner’s massive injury history and advanced age for a running back (going into age-31 season), Allgeier could have an opening to be the lead back.

Allgeier made a lot of fans in Atlanta for his style of play. But his biggest fan could be Falcons superstar running back Bijan Robinson.

What Did Robinson Say About the Arizona Cardinals Signing?

Robinson has rushed for nearly 4,000 yards in his first three seasons, with an additional 1,738 receiving yards. Atlanta has found a bona fide superstar in Robinson.

However, it appears he has a lot of admiration and respect for Allgeier, and that it’s bittersweet to see him leave. Robinson told PFSN how much he will miss Allgeier.

“I mean, obviously, me and Tyler, we’ve done some cool things here,” Robinson said. “Tyler’s one of my best friends, and he’s my brother, and I’m very happy for him and what he’s about to do in Arizona.

“I just saw him like last week, so me and him were like sad, sad as heck. I was like, ‘Bro, you can still come back, man.’ But it’s cool to see him thrive somewhere and be the guy. I know he has worked super hard. He’s one of the most selfless individuals I know. For him to go up there and make his presence known will be pretty cool.”

Robinson and Allgeier’s bond is likely to be one that is lifelong.

How Will Allgeier Fit in the Desert?

Allgeier will look to retool a Cardinals rushing attack that ranked as the second-worst team in the league in 2025 in terms of yards per game. An insane amount of injuries, paired with poor offensive line play, made this a reality.

Conner would play just three games during the 2025 season due to foot surgery. Then, backup Trey Benson would play just four games due to a knee injury.

The Cardinals would be playing fourth-string and practice-squad players regularly during the latter part of the season.

Allgeier has missed just one game (during his rookie year in 2022) in his career. His lack of an injury history means that the Cardinals will likely not be in the same situation as last season.

Allgeier is a terrific pass-blocker, ranking among the top running backs consistently throughout his career, per PFF.

He is also a former 1,000-yard rusher in his rookie season. However, after that season, the Falcons drafted Robinson, and the rest is history.

If the Cardinals can unlock Allgeier’s full potential as a starter, the Cardinals will have a much better rushing attack than last season.
