Potential Patriots Target Is A Playmaker
Daniels began his career in 2020 as a true freshman. Daniels started six games and was one of the youngest starting quarterbacks in the country. He first really began to gain attention in 2021. He led Kansas to a 57-56 upset over the Texas Longhorns in Austin, which ended the Jayhawks 56-game Big 12 road losing streak.
By the 2022 season, he was playing at a high level. He led Kansas to a 5-0 start. He led the Jayhawks to postseason success as well, recording 544 passing yards in the Liberty Bowl. Daniels became the first FBS player to record more than 500 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and a rushing touchdown in a single game.
After his 2023 season was marred by injuries, he came back strong in 2024. The paymaker recorded 2,454 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. In addition, he ran the football at a high level. He had 439 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the year. Daniels was able to fully establish himself as a dual-threat quarterback, and one of the most electrifying players in all of college football.
Now, he has a chance to make his mark in the NFL.
Patriots Could Benefit From Daniels’ Versatility
The Patriots could utilize his skill set in a major way. Incumbent starter Drake Maye can run with the football, and he did so at a high level. He rushed for 450 yards on 103 carries and four rushing touchdowns over the course of 17 games. The quarterback has done well in terms of running with the football. He has 871 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns over the course of two seasons. The North Carolina product has shown a strong ability to run with the football; it has become a key part of his game.
The Daniels visit is very intriguing because of the multifaceted elements he brings. He is a strong passer and can also run with the football well. He would strengthen the New England quarterback room and give them a project piece to work with. Having several competent quarterbacks in the room is a recipe for success, especially if the starter goes down. Daniels would immediately be a player who can move the ball down the field and utilize his legs to extend the play.
The Patriots are in a solid spot in terms of lending and seeking talent. Daniels would be a unique prospect for them to work with.
