Jets, Seahawks Connected in Playmaker Trade During 2026 NFL Draft

Despite franchise tagging the star playmaker this offseason, the New York Jets could consider trading Breece Hall during the NFL Draft. It’s predicted that the Jets could trade Hall since the running back hasn’t been committed to staying in New York. While there have been positive implications towards a new contract, the young star might end up requesting a trade if he doesn’t feel valued. It would buy the Jets time in the draft to select a replacement if Hall desires to be traded.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are down a starting running back since losing Kenneth Walker. The team prioritized giving wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba a historic deal, which is why it made it unaffordable for Seattle. After Walker bolted to Kansas City, the Super Bowl champions could make an aggressive move to address the need for a downhill starter.

Hall is entering the prime of his career, and even though the Jets want him, it wouldn’t make sense to keep him. Coming off a strong 2025 campaign, hauling in 243 carries for 1,065 yards and four touchdowns to go with 36 receptions for 350 yards and one touchdown, the running back could be seeking to join a contender. The cost would be at least a third-round pick, which is easily affordable for the Seahawks.

Seattle wouldn’t need to worry about giving Hall a new contract until 2027, and that would give them some breathing room, especially for Sam Darnold’s offense. Despite losing Walker, the team acquiring Hall should get this team back in the mix for a back-to-back Super Bowl run similar to the Chiefs a couple of years ago. A second and third-round pick would make it easier for the Jets to give the “ok” signal and send him to Seattle, but these three other teams could be interested as well.

Other Possible Fits

Las Vegas Raiders

After a disastrous season from Ashton Jeanty, the Las Vegas Raiders might do a full reset at the running back position. It’s still early to decipher what Jeanty can do, so don’t expect the Raiders to trade him. The team should bring in Hall to bolster the running game and give Fernando Mendoza and Kirk Cousins one of the best downhill runners. It’s a new era under Klint Kubiak, so it won’t be a surprise if they trade for a playmaker that’s already established and that could be Hall.

Mendoza, Hall and investing in the wide receiving unit could be the best step moving forward for this offense.

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are bringing back Aaron Jones for at least one more season after taking a paycut. Still, it doesn’t mean the team will start him this season. Even though the quarterback position is still unsolved between JJ McCarthy, Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz, it’d be nice if the team addresses the running game. Jones is too inconsistent, and bringing in Hall, especially since he’s in the final year of his contract, the Vikings wouldn’t need to dish out a long-term deal to get this done.

Chicago Bears

Given that running back D’Andre Swift is a potential trade or cut candidate this offseason, the Bears could trade for Hall to replace him. The team lost DJ Moore due to financial concerns, but the trade for Hall is likely to work in their favor, as they are already trying to move on without Swift. Kyle Monangai has shown flashes and potential to turn into RB1, but if the Bears acquire Hall, the team should be in serious business for another deep playoff run led by Caleb Williams.
