Why Seahawks might not want to add to NFL-low four picks in 2026 draft

Coming off their Super Bowl 60 win, the Seattle Seahawks lost a few key players in free agency. Kenneth Walker, Riq Woolen, Coby Bryant, and Boye Mafe.

To begin addressing their losses and revamping the roster, the Seahawks will turn to the 2026 NFL Draft for some young, controllable talent. But they have only four picks, and might have to trade down to add more volume.

However, ESPN's Brady Henderson opened the door to a different route, where the Seahawks, instead of trying to add more picks, keep their league-low pick total. He revealed the reason why, and it's an interesting scenario that could play out.

Seahawks might not want more picks in 2026 draft for one reason

"I also don't get the sense that the Seahawks love this draft, which could temper their desire to significantly add to their pick total," Henderson writes.

Seattle has just four picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. They have the 32nd, 64th, 96th, and 188th picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. Only one Day 3 pick is interesting, as that's when the most players are selected by a wide margin.

But if the Seahawks aren't a fan of this draft class, they might not want to have a ton of picks on Day 3. Instead, getting the few players they want earlier in the draft might be the route John Schneider takes this season.

It's a fascinating scenario, as the Seahawks could have their league-low four picks and be more than happy with that total.

Other teams might be looking to trade down and add a ton of mid to late-round selections to take as many dart throws as possible. That might not be the Seahawks' plan at all.

If someone like Ty Simpson fell, Seattle could field trade offers that might be too good to pass up. But, if Henderson's reporting is true in that Schneider and company aren't in love with this draft, they might not be eager to add volume down the board.

This year's draft class isn't as strong as next year's looks like it could be, which might play a factor into what the Seahawks try to do during this year's draft.

A trade down might happen, but if the Seahawks can land 2027 picks instead of 2026 picks, they might be more inclined to do such a deal.

This scenario from Henderson is very interesting, as the Seahawks passing on the chance to add more volume to this year's draft haul despite owning an NFL-low four picks would show just how little they like this draft class.
