San Francisco 49ers: Land Talented Cornerback With 8 Career Ints

The San Francisco 49ers currently have one of the two starting outside cornerback spots filled in, with Deommodore Lenoir looking to lead the unit as the team’s top corner for the third straight season. Although Renardo Green had a solid first season as the full-time starter, he is not guaranteed the starting job, and the 49ers could look to add competition this offseason. Green failed to register an interception and recorded ten pass deflections and allowed 445 passing yards, two touchdowns, and an 81 passer rating through 16 games.

According to Ian Rapoport, the 49ers have signed Jack Jones to a one-year deal. He is a talented cornerback with eight interceptions, including four pick-sixes, and 33 pass deflections, but has off-the-field issues that have contributed to San Francisco being his fourth team in his fifth NFL season. Jones is expected to compete against Renardo Green for the starting job alongside Deommodore Lenoir.

The Las Vegas Raiders released Jack Jones in April after a failed trade attempt, and the Miami Dolphins signed him during the first week of training camp. He won the starting job on such short notice and recorded 77 tackles, four TFLs, one interception, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles across 17 starts. Jones allowed a 65% completion rate, 354 passing yards, six touchdowns, and a 112.7 passer rating.
