Earlier in the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams considered trading Davante Adams in exchange for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown, but ultimately decided not to go through with it.

Adams led the league with 14 touchdown receptions at the age of 32 (he turned 33 in December), showing that he can still produce in his older age. While the Rams are sticking with the six-time Pro Bowler for another season, the team appears interested in taking a wide receiver in the upcoming draft

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Los Angeles Rams are one of four teams that have recently met with Texas Tech wide receiver Caleb Douglas.

Source: Texas Tech WR Caleb Douglas has concluded 30-visits with the Eagles, Rams and Texans — and still has the Cardinals.

He’s also had private workouts with the Broncos, Vikings and Saints. The 6-4, 206-pounder earned All-Big 12 honors and is considered a possible Day 2 pick.

Douglas, who played his first two collegiate football seasons with the University of Florida, played his best seasons with the Red Raiders. The wide receiver logged more than 845 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns in each of his last two collegiate seasons — the WR was the first option for Texas Tech the previous season, leading the receiving core in both categories.

If the Rams were to take Douglas with a Day 2 selection, it would give the team a big wide receiver threat on the field. Douglas, who stands at 6’3″ and 206 pounds, will give MVP Matthew Stafford a tall option to target on game day. The last time Stafford had a big-bodied wide receiver was Calvin Johnson and we were able to see how good a duo those two were back in the Detroit Lions days.

As Schultz mentioned, Douglas is aimed to be a Day 2 or earlier Day 3 selection. LA has the 61st and 93rd overall pick in the upcoming draft, and could fall right into the Rams’ lap if all things go right.

Los Angeles lost Tutu Atwell, who has vast knowledge of Sean McVay’s offensive scheme, and has yet to sign a replacement for him. With the draft coming up in less than three weeks, the Rams could add another member to the receiving core and make another run for the Super Bowl.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein describes the Texas Tech receiver as a “smooth and natural ” player when playing fades and deep balls. Zierlein believes Douglas has shown flashes that he needs to build on in the NFL.

In his entire collegiate career, Caleb Douglas hauled in 2,031 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Rams Could Trade for More Picks

The Los Angeles Rams have a history of trading out of the first round, having traded the 29th pick (their own). LA has the 13th (via the Falcons), with a strong possibility of them trading that as well.

Jordan Schultz noted that this year’s draft will be “trade-heavy,” noting some teams may push for a Day 2 or Day 3 selection. As mentioned, LA has a history of trading its better picks.

The Rams have two Day 2 picks and put themselves on the radar of moving their picks for this year’s class due to their known history.
