In the long, slow grind of the NFL offseason, we never have to worry about content or controversy thanks to being in the Player Podcast Era — where seemingly everyone who has ever put on a jersey gets a microphone in their face to share their thoughts.

In that microcosm, sometimes saying the wildest (or dumbest) thing turns into a competition.

Take the recent comments from Washington Commanders edge rusher and Super Bowl champion Charles Omenihu, who made some pretty off-the-wall comments during a recent appearance on the Speakeasy podcast.

Omenihu, for some reason, decided to take shots at 2 of the most powerful entities in the league — Baltimore Ravens quarterback and 2-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson and the entire Philadelphia Eagles organization.

“Lamar, honestly, you bring a 5-man rush on him and collapse that pocket, he’ll make a play that isn’t the best for the Ravens,” Omenihu said. “The league hasn’t figured out (Buffalo Bills quarterback) Josh Allen yet. They’ve figured out Lamar Jackson.”

Jackson, who is coming off arguably the worst season of his career in 2025, seemed to respond to Omenihu’s comments on Friday.

“Instead of trying to bring me down, ask GOD to bring you up,” Jackson wrote on his official X account. “#JESUSCHRISTKINGOFKINGS”

Lamar Jackson was DEVASTATED that he couldn’t get the ball to Rashod Bateman for a TD on the play that instead was a Charles Omenihu strip-sack

“That was six. DAMN THAT WAS SIX! That was a touchdown. That damn strip sack, should have been 14-14 right now”

Omenihu Can’t Stop Talking About Lamar Jackson

For some reason, Omenihu really likes to talk about Jackson in interviews.

Omenihu signed a 1-year, $7 million free-agent contract with the Commanders in March but spent the last 3 seasons playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, including a Super Bowl win following the 2023 season.

“With Lamar, I think you just gotta harass him,” Omenihu said before the Chiefs defeated the Ravens in Week 4 of the 2025 regular season. “Make it uncomfortable for him. You wanna get to his legs.”

Omenihu’s recent comments about Jackson weren’t the only wild thing he said in the Speakeasy interview. He also claimed the San Francisco 49ers team he was on that lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2022 season was better than the Eagles team that routed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2024 season — a game in which Omenihu famously bawled his eyes out on the sideline late in the 4th quarter.

Eagles Fans Don’t Take Kindly to Diss

Eagles fans, as could be expected, were quick to remind Omenihu of his emotional sideline meltdown during the Super Bowl loss.

“Had to be babied on the bench cause the belt was STINGING child please lmaooo,” Eagles fan Slimm wrote on their official X account.

“Bud, you were CRYING,” Eagles fan George Basile wrote on his official X account. “Kenny Pickett was taking snaps while you were CRYING.”

“Bro was caught in 4k crying tho,” Philly Talk Podcast wrote on its official X account.

It was a weird move by Omenihu to criticize Jackson now, of at all times, after he showed up for Ravens’ offseason workouts this week after skipping the entirety of the voluntary workout portion of the offseason for most of his career.

“Everyone echoes what Lamar Jackson does,” ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky said on Monday. “This is a good start for the organization under new head coach Jesse Minter.”
