Independiente chief now comments on Juan Angulo to Man Utd amid links,'Let's hope...'

Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign Independiente del Valle striker Juan Angulo this summer, and now the club’s stance has been made clear.

This summer could see Manchester United sign a wonderkid striker from Ecuador named Juan Angulo.

United were linked with Angulo this week, with the 18-year-old expected to depart the Ecuadorian side as several top European clubs line up to sign him.

Now, Independiente del Valle’s general manager has reacted to these links.

The transfer would be in keeping with Ineos’ desire to sign talented wonderkids from across the globe, as he would follow Diego Leon and Cristian Orozco in jumping from South America to Old Trafford.

Now, speaking with Ecuadorian outlet Havoline Deportivo, Independiente general manager Santiago Morales has been asked about the links.

“With Manchester United, we haven’t received any proposal”, Morales admitted. Before the journalist, then asked, “Yet?”

Following this, Morales laughed and said, “Let’s hope”.

This suggests that Independiente are open to a transfer, likely knowing how lucrative a Manchester United approach tends to be.

How Angulo fared in latest performance for Independiente

The comments from Morales came after Angulo featured for 11 minutes in Independiente’s 0-0 draw with Rosario in the Copa Libertadores.

Angulo came off the bench in the 87th minute, and while he didn’t have much opportunity to impact the match, he didn’t put a foot wrong.

He completed one pass of one attempt, while touching the ball three times, as his most impressive moments came with his ball carrying.

Angulo completed two carries with the ball, resulting in 40m of dribbling, with one being progressive.

This is owed to his brilliant speed and strength, which makes him a nightmare for defenders to take the ball off.

He is a very exciting talent.
