Andy Mitten has sought to squash speculation that Harry Maguire has had to accept a pay cut to stay at Manchester United.
Instead, he believes the centre-half will continue to pocket £190,000 per week at Old Trafford.

Harry Maguire signs United extension
Maguire put pen to paper on his one-year (plus a 12-month option) deal earlier this week following months of speculation over his future, as he was poised to leave as a free agent at the end of June if nothing was done about his contract.
However, United decided it was in their best interests to keep hold of the 33-year-old, who has played an integral role in the side this campaign – particularly since Michael Carrick took the reins.

In tying Maguire down to new terms, United successfully rebuffed outside interest from a handful of clubs.

Mitten has revealed that sides in Turkey, America and a quartet of Serie A outfits had all set their sights on signing the England international for nothing this summer.
Reports have previously disclosed that Maguire rebuffed approaches from AC Milan and Inter Miami to commit his future to the Red Devils, while Mitten said of the matter on Thursday’s Talk of the Devils podcast release: “I do not think there has been a pay cut.
“I’ve been on this story for a long time. He could’ve gone to Turkey and earned more money because he was effectively a free transfer.
“Manchester United needed to pay him good money to stay. He had interest from the United States and four clubs in Italy that I know of.”
It remains to be seen how much Maguire will feature when he, Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt are all fit and available at the same time, as that hasn’t happened once throughout the entirety of 2025/2026 thus far.
