Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 04/11/26: Tackles, Quarterbacks, and other Offensive Things

CLEVELAND, OHIO (TheOBR.com) - Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

Sure, there's Browns news to report about this morning, but none of it is really unpredictable. The Browns have hosted three more offensive tackle prospects - Monroe Freeling, Kadyn Proctor (Alabama), and Caleb Lomu (Utah) - but none of those were a real surprise given the Browns' need at the position. Sorry if I'm picky about offensive tackles, but I shy away from those with minimal experience or potential weight-related injury issues, leaving Lomu as my favorite of the three. Pete wrote a terrific piece yesterday asking if the Browns should go in a different direction entirely.

We also have some good news! Bleacher Report has ranked the worst QB situations in the NFL, and the Browns aren't last! In fact, there are two teams ranked worse than the Browns. Improvement! To the degree that you trust Bleacher Report or care.

In the writer-creates-rumors department, Mike Florio put together a piece on whether superstar defensive end Myles Garrett could be traded. The piece is consistent with the OBR's perspective on the contract and its opening the door to a deal without alternative explanations, but I am not reading Garrett's absence from "voluntary" workouts as anything more than a personal decision and typical behavior. But if Florio wants to stir things up, that's his right. There's some buzzing in our forums about what a potential Dallas package might look like. Stay tuned on this one, but I wouldn't be on the edge of my seat. I'd be more relaxed and cool, as always, an approach that could be described as "lazy" or "slovenly". But it's not. It's just a cerebral response to the low odds of the imminent possibility of trading a "career Brown"..

On the defensive side of the ball, Browns cornerback Tyson Campbell had some encouraging words about new defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg, saying he's brought fresh energy to the building. That's good, I guess, since we lost our last energy-bringing defensive coordinator.

On another note, Lance Zierlein at NFL Network compared this entire draft class to "grilled, skinless chicken with light seasoning." Fair or not, the Browns are sitting at pick six — bland draft or not, Cleveland needs to nail this one.

On another note, as I fought through medical problems this last week, I was also working quite a bit on some other personal matters during times that I felt well. Doing so put me in contact with a series of customer-facing "support" groups who do everything in their power to make it impossible to speak to a human being and, when you do, route you to cheap overseas call centers where you not only have to fight systems, but struggle to understand the support representative. Or maybe that's just me. I was extremely frustrated and upset with the process and felt these companies did not respect my time. I may or may not have silently made some hand gestures at my phone.

While I want the OBR to grow, I don't want to get past the point where you can easily reach a human being if you have questions, needs or feedback. It's simply a matter of writing barry@theobr.com at this time, and you can communicate with a human directly. I'm not always able to jump on things right away, but I do my best to respond as quickly as possible. It's one of the advantages of being a small business. We can focus on you rather than cutting our customer support costs.

Have a good one! GO BROWNS!

Positive news from the world of sports and beyond...

Nature is Amazing — the happiest dog I've seen in my life

I frequently write about our beloved pups in this space and talk about how we humans don't really deserve them. At the same time, the trade-off that dogs have made to live with us seems to be generally working out for them, too. As I was playing ball with my pup yesterday, she just seemed so happy with the whole situation that she had completely forgotten her puppyhood locked in a cage in a breeding farm. Things seem to have worked out well for her since she was rescued and found a forever home. More than a fair tradeoff to have to put up with humans. As happy as she was, she couldn't surpass the happiness of the dog in the Xitter post above. And yes, my Xitter feed is set to nearly exclusively show Browns news and links to places that can show GIFs of happy dogs. Even with this, Xitter is barely tolerable
