Chelsea are reportedly among several clubs monitoring Morgan Rogers ahead of the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa understood to be demanding a fee in the region of £100 million for the England international.
The midfielder has enjoyed a breakout period at Villa Park, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young attackers in the Premier League. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with CHELSEA now credited with a growing interest as Liam Rosenior looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Rogers’ blend of physicality, direct running and versatility has made him a key figure under Unai Emery. Capable of operating across the front line or in an advanced midfield role, he has contributed important goals and assists during Villa’s push for European qualification this season.
Reports suggest Villa are in a strong negotiating position and have no intention of letting Rogers leave cheaply. The club view him as a central part of their long-term project and would only consider a sale if their £100m valuation is met — a figure that would represent a record departure.
However, any move is expected to be complicated not only by the price but also by competition from other top clubs, who are also tracking Rogers’ development closely. With Villa aiming to continue their upward trajectory, prising away one of their standout performers will be no easy task.
Do Arsenal actually need Morgan Rogers?
In many ways, he fits the profile Rosenior likes. He is versatile, athletic, and tactically flexible, capable of playing multiple roles in a fluid attacking system. His ability to carry the ball and break lines would add another dimension to Chelsea’s forward play.
However, Chelsea are not short of options in those areas. Their current squad already includes several players capable of operating across the front line and in attacking midfield roles.
Spending £100 million on another multi-functional attacker could be seen as excessive, particularly when other areas—such as centre-forward or midfield depth—may require more urgent investment.
There is also the issue of role clarity. At Villa, Rogers is a focal point; at CHELSEA, he could become part of a rotation, which may limit his impact and development.
