The Denver Broncos have two fourth-round picks in this year’s draft, while their first is at 108th overall and the second pick is at 111th overall. Walter Cherepinsky and Charlie Campbell of the WalterFootball project the Broncos will select Indiana linebacker Aiden Fisher with their final pick in the fourth round. “Charlie Campbell reported that the Broncos are searching for some help at linebacker,” Cherepinsky wrote. “Aiden Fisher is an instinctive linebacker, but has some limitations for the NFL.” Here’s more information about a player who could help the Broncos fill the holes at linebacker.
Riverbend High School (Fredericksburg, Virginia) — Class of 2022
Fisher is from Fredericksburg, Virginia, and played high school football at Riverbend High School. At Riverbend, Fisher was a multi-faceted athlete playing linebacker, running back, and quarterback.
The 6-foot-1, 233-pound linebacker had a big senior year. Fisher earned Region 5A Defensive Player of the Year, first-team All-Region 5A at linebacker, second-team All-Region 5A at running back, Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year, and first-team all-district at running back.
Other milestones from Fisher’s high school career include being a first-team all-district linebacker twice, a second-team all-district quarterback in his junior season, and a second-team all-district linebacker as a sophomore.
James Madison (2022-2023)
After high school, Fisher stayed in Virginia and headed nearly two hours east to play college football at James Madison under Curt Cignetti. In his first year with the Dukes, Fisher played in 10 games.
The next season, Fisher improved, making 11 starts while leading the team with 108 tackles and posting double-digit tackles in four games. As a sophomore, he earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week in Week 2 after blocking a punt against Virginia on September 9, 2023. He also earned third-team All-Sun Belt Conference.
Indiana (2024-2025)
At the end of 2023, Cignetti left James Madison after Indiana hired him to replace Tom Allen, while Fisher decided to follow his first college football head coach.
As a transfer, 247sports rated Fisher as a three-star recruit. Fisher’s first season with the Hoosiers also marked the first time he started all games, recording 118 tackles. In 2024, he contributed to a defense that allowed 15.6 points per game, the lowest opponent scoring average in the FBS.
In his last season with Indiana, Fisher didn’t have as many tackles, but still made 95 while starting in 14 games, missing only one against Maryland due to an injury. Fisher also had two interceptions and six sacks as a Hoosier.
During his time at Indiana, Fisher won first-team All-America honors at linebacker and was first-team All-Big Ten twice. Even though Cherepinsky stated Fisher has some limitations, he can definitely be a player that any NFL team would love to have on its defense.
Denver decided to work things out with Alex Singleton, but that doesn’t mean Fisher wouldn’t fit in well with the team. Fisher can fight for a No. 2 spot on the depth chart behind Singleton, especially if Drew Sanders continues battling injuries.
Dre Greenlaw is no longer on the roster, as he resigned with the San Francisco 49ers after Denver released him in March. In addition, the team’s linebackers struggled at times last season in stopping the run and covering. If the Broncos take a chance on Fisher, it would be a great opportunity for him to learn from the veterans and develop into a potential starter down the line.
