The Dallas Cowboys have had a relative drama-free offseason so far. There have been discussions over what they have and haven’t done in terms of building the roster, but outside of that it’s been clear sailing. Today things got a little stormy.
Veteran safety and sometime linebacker [Markquese Bell was arrested](https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/cowboys-markquese-bell-arrested-for-possession-of-controlled-substance) for possession of a controlled substance.

When reading that, it’s the felony count of possession that is worrisome. We don’t know exactly what that is and how much he had, so we’ll wait for more information to come. The relaxed posture of the NFL and laws about marijuana possession leaves the second item less worrisome.
Bell was going into an offseason where his versatility may be an advantage in the new scheme of Christian Parker. Om the other hand, the Cowboys went out and signed Jalen Thompson and P.J. Lock at safety which could be an indicator tht Bell is down in the pecking order.
An arrest like this certainly won’t help his cause.
