The Cowboys have hosted safety Cole Wisniewski on a Top 30 visit ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys are gearing up for what figures to be one of the most important drafts in their franchise’s history. Armed with two first-round picks, the Cowboys have the ability to be as aggressive as they please in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, and considering how they missed the playoffs again last year, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them make a big move or two.
While everyone wants to try to figure out how the team will use their first-round picks, Dallas has to be prepared for every single round of the draft. That includes on Day 3 of the draft, as that is where teams can scoop up undervalued players with their final few picks. The Cowboys are being quite thorough with their pre-draft work, and that recently led to them taking a close look at Texas Tech Red Raiders safety Cole Wisniewski.

Wisniewski had a bit of an interesting collegiate career before he suddenly turned himself into a draft prospect in 2025. Before finding his way to Texas Tech, Wisniewski spent five years with the North Dakota State Bison. In 2023, he enjoyed a breakout campaign, but after undergoing foot surgery over the offseason, he was forced to miss the entire year in 2024.
That led Wisniewski to hit the transfer portal, and he eventually landed with the Red Raiders. Against a tougher level of competition in 2025, Wisniewski held his own, as he finished the year with 78 tackles (six of which went for a loss), one sack, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. Despite that, Wisniewski did not earn an invitation to the 2026 NFL Draft Combine.
And yet, Wisniewski is still firmly on teams’ radars ahead of the draft. While he may not have a very high ceiling, Wisniewski has a lot of experience from his collegiate career, which could make him an immediate contributor in the NFL. The Cowboys are certainly interested in him, as it was revealed that they have hosted him on a Top 30 visit.
“Texas Tech S Cole Wisniewski, a Combine snub, has had five Top 30 visits, spending time with the Cowboys, Vikings, Bucs, Jets, 49ers,” Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported in a post on X.

Wisniewski isn’t the flashiest prospect, and there’s a chance he doesn’t even get drafted. If he does come off the board, it would likely be in the seventh round, so the Cowboys would have to decide whether or not they want to use a pick on Wisniewski. He has solid intangibles and the versatility to play at several different spots, which are traits that could appeal to teams late in the draft.
The late rounds of the draft are primarily for taking fliers on players, and Wisniewski certainly could be a guy worth bringing to town to see if he can carve out a role for himself. Dallas owns the No. 218 overall pick in the seventh round, and if Wisniewski is still hanging around, it could very well select him and keep him in the state of Texas for the time being.
