The Las Vegas Raiders look to be targeting a wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft, whether that comes in Day 2 or they decide to trade back into the first round. One of the names that the Silver and Black could target is formerWashington Huskies wideout Denzel Boston.
Last month, Boston had a visit with the Raiders, per Brady Henderson of ESPN. However, the question is whether Boston falls out of the first round to Las Vegas in Round 2, or whether the Silver and Black need to trade back into Round 1 to land the talented receiver.
Nonetheless, if the Raiders do decide to trade back into the first round, they might need to do so in front of one team, the Buffalo Bills. NFL analysts Steve Palazzolo and Sam Monson believe that if any team is an ideal fit for Boston in the late first round, it’s Buffalo.
“I think he’s got a really good feel for the position,”Palazzolo said in an April 11 video from Check the Mic with Steve Palazzolo & Sam Monson. “Scramble drill adjustments are fantastic. Hands are amazing. Hands are amazing.
“My initial notes, I said I think he’d be a good fit for Patrick Mahomes because of the scramble. Now, of course, Josh Allen, like anybody who lives in the scramble drill world eight to 10 times a game. And I know Boston has been mocked to the Bills at the end of the first round, and I think he’s fine there.”
Bills Get Another Message on Why Denzel Boston Makes Sense
Meanwhile, Monson shared his thoughts on why the Bills are the ideal fit for Boston.
“I actually think when you look at his strengths, he’s a perfect fit. He will get open deep in a way, on the outside against press coverage, that none of the other Bills receivers do. I think his skill set is a perfect complement for what Buffalo has.”
Last seasonfor the Huskies,Boston posted an 87.7 overall PFF grade, ranking 14th among 679 qualified wide receivers. His 86.6 receiving grade also stood out, placing him 25th among the same group. Moreover, he finished the year with 56 catches on 86 targets for 755 yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging 13.5 yards per reception.
Raiders Urged to Get Aggressive for Denzel Boston
Furthermore, another analyst is urging the Raiders to get aggressive to land Boston. ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes would like the Silver and Black to jump back in the first round to draft former Washington Huskies star Denzel Boston.
“If you’ve got a big guy who catches everything, do we stop liking that in the NFL? Which brings me to the team that I want to take [Boston],” Kimes said in anApril 9 video from “The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny.” “I want the Las Vegas Raiders to trade back into the first round and get Fernando Mendoza the X receiver he deserves.
“The best throw in Fernando Mendoza’s arsenal is that beautiful back-shoulder ball that’s on the money. He needs a big-bodied receiver who catches everything. It’s such a missing component right now in their offense.”
