Alejandro Garnacho is being linked with a move back to Argentina.
It follows reports that River Plate manager Eduardo Coudet has personally contacted the winger in a bid to convince him to make the switch.
The Argentine club want to offer him a one-year loan deal, something Chelsea are open to exploring.
Certainly he has struggled to make the impression at Stamford Bridge that was hoped for when he was signed from Manchester United last summer, and a move back to South America might help him recover his best form away from the spotlight of the Premier League.
The 21-year old still has time to turn round a career that appeared bright when he first burst on to the scene at Old Trafford, but dimmed in the latter part of his stay in Manchester, where he was accused of being a disruptive element in the dressing room under RĂºben Amorim.
