“There is interest” – Approaches confirmed as Chelsea target’s price is raised after initial enquiry

Chelsea

Chelsea are continuing to track AIK youngster Zadok Yohanna, but the price for the Swedish breakout talent is already moving quickly after his explosive start to 2026.

The Blues have been monitoring the 18-year-old winger alongside Ajax. That interest follows a sudden rise which has taken him from academy minutes to first-team standout in a matter of weeks.

As covered previously, Yohanna made his senior debut earlier this month with a stunning goal and an electric performance that immediately caught attention.

Since then, the hype has only grown – and so has the valuation.

Price climbs after breakout displays

Zadok Yohanna’s rapid emergence is now having a direct impact on his market value. According to Footy-Africa, AIK are open to selling the winger this summer, but only at the right price.

The report states the Swedish club would now consider offers between €20m and €25m (£17.2m-£21.5m). That marks a clear increase from earlier claims of a €15m (£12.9m) asking price.

The shift reflects how quickly Yohanna’s situation has evolved. His recent performances have driven visibility and demand, especially after what has been described as a near-imperious run of displays. And after the first round of enquiries, his price tag got bigger.

Footy-Africa add that Chelsea and Ajax remain among the clubs closely following his development. A move would represent a significant step up for the teenager, who only joined AIK in the summer of 2025.

Club confirm interest and outline plan

Zadok Yohanna’s rise has not gone unnoticed inside AIK either, and the club are already fielding enquiries.

Recruitment chief Miikka Takkula openly acknowledged that attention is building from abroad, while trying to keep the focus on the player’s development.

“He has started the season well, so it is obvious that there is interest from outside, which is positive for the player and for the club,” Takkula said to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen.

When asked directly about the level of contact from agents, scouts and clubs, he smiled and kept things vague: “Let’s just say there is interest.”

Pressed further on whether major clubs are involved, he added: “It is obvious that clubs have noticed that he has done well with us and that he has an interesting profile.”

Takkula also refused to confirm whether any bids have arrived, responding with a laugh: “As I said before, there is interest. That is what I can comment on.”

Despite the growing noise, the club are trying to manage expectations. Takkula stressed that Yohanna still has areas to improve and highlighted the importance of keeping him grounded.

“It helps that we have a mindset focused on the collective. Our head coach always talks about the collective performance and being part of a team.”

For Chelsea, the situation is becoming clearer by the week. Yohanna is no longer a hidden talent. His price is rising, his performances are attracting attention, and AIK are openly acknowledging interest.

If this trajectory continues, waiting may only make the deal more complicated.

Yohanna’s full numbers and contract context

Zadok Yohanna signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with AIK upon arrival. His contract runs until December 2029, which gives the Swedish side strong control over any negotiations.

Despite that long-term deal, his on-pitch impact has accelerated quickly. After a gradual introduction last year, he has hit form in 2026. He has already scored four goals in six appearances across all competitions this season – the wonder strike against Halmstad and three goals in the Swedish Cup.

That means Chelsea have identified a high-upside talent early, but competition is building and the price is rising.

If Yohanna continues at this level, AIK may push closer to the top end of their valuation. That could complicate any early move, especially given his limited senior experience.

Still, this is the type of profile Chelsea have targeted repeatedly in recent windows. The coming weeks will be key in determining whether they move decisively or continue to monitor from a distance.
