The Blues are looking for a first win against Pep Guardiola’s side since the 2021 Champions League final, a run stretching 12 matches.

It’s a huge game for both teams for differing reasons, and Chelsea desperately need the points in the race for Champions League football.

Liam Rosenior wants Chelsea to take the game to Man City

Chelsea stopped a run of four consecutive defeats with a 7-0 win against Port Vale in the FA Cup last weekend, but that’s not likely to alleviate the growing pressure on Rosenior.

The Blues have lost their last two league games against Newcastle and Everton, and currently sit sixth, four points behind Liverpool, although they’ve played a game less.

City will pose a tough challenge, and Chelsea will be without both Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah, whilst Enzo Fernandez serves the final game of his ban.

Speaking ahead of the game Rosenior has urged his Chelsea players to take the game to City and impose themselves.

“I don’t think it’s about stopping them, it’s about trying to win the game, and it’s about playing your way,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“Obviously, you can talk about the many strengths that they have, how well coached they are, and their understanding.

“They’ve been together for a long time, but we’re at home and we want to take the game to them in our way and make sure that we express ourselves in the way that I think we’re capable of.”
