Opinion: Future Chelsea star shows he’s ready to pile more misery on Arsenal

Chelsea signing Geovany Quenda made his comeback for Sporting Lisbon on Saturday, helping the Portuguese club to beat Estrela da Amadora 1-0.

Quenda returns from injury just in time for Sporting’s trip to the Emirates next week to face Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal.

Rui Borges’ side take on Mikel Arteta’s men in the second leg of their quarter-final Champions League tie. They need two goals to go through after losing the first leg 1-0 in Lisbon.

SCENARIO: Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande but must sell one of their current wingers first…

Who are you sacrificing? 👋

Geovany Quenda shines on return ahead of showdown with wounded Arsenal

If Quenda’s comeback performance is anything to go by, then Sporting definitely have a chance of turning this fixture around.

Against Estrela da Amadora, the winger was only on the pitch for 23 minutes. Nevertheless, he still managed to make an impact.

Sofascore gave Quenda a 7.2 match rating. The 18-year-old finished the fixture with one key pass to his name, while he also managed to complete one cross.

Quenda completed the one dribble he attempted as well and won all three of his ground duels. It was a very bright cameo, especially considering how long the Portuguese has been out for.

Quenda has spent the last few months rehabilitating at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground after sustaining a bad foot injury.

However, he has put that behind him now and looks ready to cause Arsenal serious problems next Wednesday.

If you are a fearless wide man like Quenda, now is probably a good time to play the Gunners.

Arsenal look very wounded at this moment in time. They have just lost to Bournemouth in the Premier League and were recently beaten by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

They could be quite shaky and nervous when Sporting make the trip to north London, knowing that their season could be about to collapse. If a future Chelsea star contributes to that, there will be a lot of happy faces in west London.
