AC Milan’s defeat to Udinese has certainly made things very interesting for the top-four race, with both Juventus and Como now feeling that they can clinch the final two spots.
Milan needed to come away with all three points from their game against Udinese last night, but in the end, they got zero. Juventus capitalised on their defeat by beating Atalanta 1-0, moving within three points of the Rossoneri, and Como will be looking to make it two against Inter tonight.
Indeed, you could now describe the top-four race as wide open, at least for the final two spots with Napoli looking more secure (and definitely Inter). There are some big remaining games for the teams involved, including Milan-Juventus in two weeks.
Tough run for all teams
Taking a look at the games, it’s pretty clear that none of the sides has an easy run to a top-four finish. For Milan and Juventus, the game against each other will decide a lot, while Como have to overcome Napoli and a Cremonese that will be fighting for survival.
Milan: Verona (away), Juventus, Sassuolo (away), Atalanta, Genoa (away), Cagliari.
Juventus: Bologna, Milan (away), Verona, Lecce (away), Fiorentina, Torino (away).
Como: Sassuolo (away), Genoa (away), Napoli, Verona (away), Parma, Cremonese (away).
Roma: Atalanta, Bologna (away), Fiorentina, Parma (away), Lazio, Verona (away).
The next few games will be the most important ones, mainly for Milan, as a response is needed to the recent struggles. Otherwise, we could be looking at a proper free fall for Massimiliano Allegri’s men, which would likely mean no Champions League next season.
