Newcastle United suspensions: Eddie Howe has been handed a fresh midfield blow heading into two crucial matches.
Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton has been handed a two-match ban after picking up his 10th Premier League booking of the season.
The Brazilian picked up his ninth Premier League yellow card of the campaign during the Tyne-Wear derby defeat against Sunderland before the international break before being booked against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Joelinton was shown a yellow card at Selhurst Park following a challenge on Jean-Philippe Mateta.
As per Premier League rules, any player who is booked 10 times in their club’s opening 32 matches is handed an automatic two-match ban.
Unfortunately for Joelinton and Newcastle, the player would have avoided a ban altogether had he not been booked as the 32-game threshold would have passed.
As a result of his booking, Joelinton will now miss Newcastle’s matches against AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal before being back available for the final four matches.

NUFC midfield worries
Newcastle were boosted by the return of Lewis Miley at Crystal Palace on Saturday but there are still question marks over the fitness of Bruno Guimaraes after two months out with a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian missed the trip to Palace on Sunday and remains a doubt for the Bournemouth game, according to Eddie Howe.
The Magpies boss said on Friday: “Bruno suffered, as probably the majority know, from mumps on his return from Brazil.
“So, that's delayed his return. So, he will not be involved in this game. I think there's probably a doubt over the Bournemouth game as well for him.
“No injury concern, more just the illness stopped him doing some key work that we needed him to do to be considered for these games. So, he may be the game after. But it's important he comes back when he's ready.”
So Newcastle will be without Joelinton and possibly Guimaraes too for the Bournemouth match.
Fabian Schar remains sidelined with a foot injury and Emil Krafth is out for the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
