Man Utd join race to sign 'unbelievable' Champions League forward, club open to sale - report

Manchester United have registered their interest in Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche ahead of the summer, according to reports.

The Old Trafford side are among a host of Premier League and European clubs keeping close tabs on the France international amid his fine form in Ligue 1.

Akliouche has registered 10 goal involvements in 26 league appearances this season and another four in 10 Champions League games, helping Monaco reach the last 16.

The 24-year-old is under contract with the Monegasque side until the summer of 2028 and was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League last transfer window.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Akliouche is attracting attention from United ahead of the summer, as the Red Devils have not ruled out bolstering their attacking options.

A left-sided winger is believed to be on the agenda for the Old Trafford hierarchy, who spent close to £200m on new signings last summer, welcoming Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

United could face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham in the race for Akliouche, who is a long-term target for the north London side.

Spurs looked into a potential move for the 24-year-old in the past two transfer windows and could face a tough battle for his signature after the season, given their precarious Premier League position.

Monaco are believed to be open to selling their academy graduate ‘for the right price’. There is a growing sense that the upcoming World Cup could further boost the ‘unbelievable’ 24-year-old’s profile and transfer value.

Akliouche has been involved with the France national team since his first call-up in September, registering three goal involvements in seven appearances.

Aiming to rebuild their midfield after the season, Manchester United are admirers of Bournemouth sensation Alex Scott.

The Old Trafford side could seriously consider a move for the 22-year-old midfielder amid his breakout campaign on the south coast under manager Andoni Iraola.

Scott delivered a man-of-the-match display in Bournemouth’s 2-1 win over Arsenal on Saturday at the Emirates, scoring the visitors’ winning goal.

United are preparing for Casemiro’s departure at the end of his contract, with the Brazilian set to call time on his four-year spell in Manchester in June, and have placed the signing of his replacement at the top of their agenda.
