Manchester United could announce another new contract before the end of the season | Manchester United FC
The latest Man Utd transfer news and contract updates on three first-team stars.
The 20-year-old is in talks over an improved deal that would recognise his senior status within the first-team squad. Mainoo last signed a deal in 2023, when he was still 17, and has already activated all of the performance-related bonuses in the contract. It is understood United have proposed a five-year deal that will run until June 2031 with a higher base wage to reflect his seniority.
United announced a new deal for experienced defender Harry Maguire earlier this month and there is hope they could agree a new contract with Mainoo before the end of the season. Carrick insists United are in a 'good place' over a deal for the academy graduate, but admitted final decisions had not been made regarding Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United issue triple contract update
Manchester United are calm over the future of Kobbie Mainoo and are hopeful an agreement will soon be reached over a new contract.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Leeds on Monday night, Michael Carrick was asked if he felt 'confident' Mainoo would sign a deal soon. "We'd like to think so and it's getting closer, so we're positive with that," he said. "We're calm with it, but we're positive with it and time will tell how it goes. But at the moment, we are in a good place."
United are set to lose Casemiro when his contract expires at the end of the season, with Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho both expected to leave when their deals expire this summer. United have the option to trigger an additional year in Sancho's deal, but are set to let him leave on a free rather than extend his contract in an effort to secure a fee this summer.
Carrick added: "I think coming to the summer, there's contracts, and there's all sorts of things that need to be sorted out, but at this stage, to that stage, it's not been sorted out just yet. I think we'll cross that bridge a little bit further down the line, but it's great to have Harry sorted and clarity in that situation. Case was a little bit before me really, so I wasn't particularly involved in that, but I think as time goes, everything ends up getting sorted out. We're just not at that stage where anything else is sorted just yet."
