Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is close to making his decision on which team he will play for next season, with Chelsea among the leading candidates, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
Writing on his X account, Moretto said the Blues are one of the three Premier League clubs vying for the Argentinian international’s signature:
“Marcos Senesi is about to choose his next team. His agents are in close contact with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United. The rest of the teams are much further away.”
The 28-year-old is out of contract on June 30th and he will be available on a free transfer.

Senesi is not expected to move abroad
It was widely reported that Barcelona were among the favourites to sign the centre-back, but it appears they have backed away from the move.
Moretto has strong sources in Spain, so his information that Barca have ended their pursuit of Senesi is likely to be accurate.
It should be noted that English clubs can’t secure the defender to a pre-contract agreement, but they can start speaking to him directly after the end of the season.

Chelsea are taking advantage of the free agency market
If Senesi does end up making the switch to Stamford Bridge this summer, it would draw parallels to the move the club made for Tosin Adarabioyo a couple of years ago.
The defender was slightly above the age profile that the Blues usually target, but as he was available on a free transfer and wasn’t going to break the wage structure, the decision was made to bring him in.
Considering Tosin hasn’t exactly been a huge success since moving across London from Fulham, it will be hoped that Senesi is a better signing if he chooses to join Liam Rosenior’s team.
