Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League were dealt a blow on Sunday as they lost 3-0 against title-chasing Manchester City.
Both sides struggled to create chances during the first-half at Stamford Bridge, but the Citizens soon broke the deadlock shortly after the restart when Nico O’Reilly headed home from Rayan Cherki’s cross.
Former Chelsea man Marc Guehi then doubled the visitors’ advantage, before Jeremy Doku netted City’s third.
The result moves City to within six points of Premier League leaders Arsenal, while Liam Rosenior’s side remain sixth but are now seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa in the race to finish in the top four.
Away from the action, it has emerged that Chelsea are interested in re-signing one of their former players.
According to CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and London rivals Arsenal are monitoring Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall.

Hall, 21, joined Newcastle on loan from the Blues back in 2023 before making the move to St. James’ Park permanent the following year.
Since moving to the North East, the Englishman has made a total of 97 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions, providing seven assists and scoring three goals.
The defender was handed his senior debut for England in November 2024 and, having been capped four times by the Three Lions, the 21-year-old looks increasingly likely to be included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in the United States.
Several clubs from the Premier League – including Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool – are also said to have been tracking the full-back’s progress, while Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also credited with an interest in the player.
Hall’s contract with Newcastle United is set to run until 2029, but the Magpies could face a battle to keep hold of the player beyond this summer with several clubs having taken notice of his impressive performances for Eddie Howe’s side.
