Yan Diomande
RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande is happy about reports linking him to Liverpool, Chelsea and other clubs.
The Bundesliga side signed him from CD Leganés for €20m in July 2025.
He has starred in his debut season in Germany and has caught Liverpool and Chelsea attention.
The winger has scored 12 goals and contributed eight assists from 31 matches so far for Leipzig.
The Ivory Coast international’s Bundesliga stats this season are as follows:
Appearances: 28
Starts: 23
Total minutes: 2,047
Minutes per game: 73
Goals: 11
Assists: 6
Expected Goals: 6.18
Expected Assists: 8.02
Big chances created: 11
Big chances missed: 5
Last week, Sport Witness relayed news that both Liverpool and Chelsea are willing to offer €60m for him. Earlier claims from Germany stated Leipzig are aiming to collect €100m.
In January, the attacker already expressed his desire to make a switch to Anfield.
At that time, he said: “I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan. My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!”
Happy with Liverpool and Chelsea links
Africa Foot have spoken to Yan Diomande to discuss the latest claims of interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and others.
Responding to that, he said: “I’m here, and first and foremost, I’m healthy and working hard every day. Hearing these rumours about big clubs like PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and others interested in me gives me even more motivation to work. I keep smiling, stay upbeat, and keep pushing forward.”
The player doesn’t rule out a summer move away from Leipzig.
“My job is on the pitch, and I’m fully committed to my current club. As for the rest, I have a team that takes care of everything; I don’t stress about it. I play for Leipzig and enjoy it,” Diomande explained.
Our take: Liverpool have edge over Blues
Reds star Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield after this season and Arne Slot’s side have to bring in a replacement for the Egyptian in the summer.
Yan Diomande, like Salah, mainly operates on the right wing and has publicly talked about his desire to join Liverpool.
In addition to this, the Anfield club are now fifth in the table, four points ahead of sixth placed Chelsea. In other words, the Blues risk missing out on the Champions League next season.
These are multiple factors that put Liverpool ahead of Chelsea in the race for the Leipzig attacker, but he hasn’t made a decision on his future yet.
The Ivorian has a contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €75m.
