Scott McTominay rues missed Rasmus Hojlund‘chances’as Napoli held to‘very difficult’1-1 draw vs Parma

Scott McTominay has singled out former Manchester United teammate Rasmus Hojlund amid his assessment of Napoli’s 1-1 Serie A draw against Parma on Sunday.

Napoli visited the Ennio Tardini Stadium at the weekend and Antonio Conte’s men had to fight back against Parma to rescue a draw in their Serie A encounter.

Gabriel Strefezza stunned the defending Serie A champions in the first minute of Sunday’s 1-1 draw by firing Parma into a shock lead over Napoli on the day.

However, Antonio Conte’s side snatched a Serie A point in the second half after Scott McTominay cancelled out Gabriel Strefezza’s first-half opener for Parma.

Scott McTominay is disappointed with Rasmus Hojlund’s failed opportunities in Napoli’s Serie A encounter with Parma

Rasmus Hojlund linked up with former Manchester United teammate Scott McTominay in the second half and registered an assist for Napoli at the weekend.

However, the 23-year-old on-loan Man Utd striker was unable to add his name to the scoresheet at the Ennio Tardini Stadium amid the Serie A match on Sunday.

Hojlund was withdrawn only seven minutes after his assist for McTominay, with Napoli boss Antonio Conte bringing on Giovane for the Denmark striker.

McTominay admitted that Hojlund was not alone for not capitalising on the “chances” in the match, with the Scotland midfielder singling out Eljif Elmas as well.

“Obviously, we know nothing’s ever finished and it’s important to keep going,” he told DAZN Italia, as per Goal.

“Today was a very difficult game; we had chances with Elmas and Hojlund as well.”

Napoli have fallen nine Serie A points behind league leaders Inter Milan in their title defence in the 2025-26 campaign, with only six league matches now remaining.

McTominay has refused to rule Napoli out of the Serie A title race and insisted that the Naples-based club must bounce back with their final league run-in this season.

“This is football, you’re going to get results you don’t like and this is one of them,” he added.

“We’ve got to play the next six games at a high level and try to get maximum points.”

McTominay has been at Napoli since 2024 after his Old Trafford exit, while Man Utd striker Hojlund signed for the Serie A club last summer on a season-long loan.
