Arsenal fan announces he is 'suing club for emotional distress'

**An Arsenal fan has claimed he is pursuing legal action against the club following their "unacceptable" performance against Bournemouth.**

The Gunners are currently six points ahead in the Premier League title race but on Saturday afternoon, they suffered a significant setback after losing 2-1 at home to Andoni Iraola's in-form Bournemouth.

It is Arsenal's third defeat in four matches, a run of form that couldn't have come at a worse time as they prepare to face Sporting Lisbon and Manchester City.

After the full-time whistle, Kampala-based [Arsenal](https://www.sportbible.com/arsenal) supporter Eric Kyama claimed to have filed a lawsuit against the club for "emotional distress, stress, and anxiety, among other damages."

He shared a formal notice of his intention on social media platform [X](https://x.com/erickyama5/status/2042987513912947105?s=20).

It reads: "I am writing this formal notice of my intention to pursue legal action against Arsenal Football Club, its first-team players and manager Mikel Arteta following the unacceptable performance against AFC Bournemouth.

"As a dedicated supporter from Uganda, I am filing this complaint on the grounds of gross professional negligence, lack of competitive integrity and a fundamental breach of the implied contract between the club and its global fanbase.

"The performance observed was characterized by a distinct lack of effort, tactical incoherence and an apparent absence of sporting ambition."

Kyama went on to mention the so-called "specific allegations" of the matter, which include professional negligence, tactical incompetence and emotional and financial distress.

It continued: "Professional Negligence: The players demonstrated a complete lack of industry, playing without discernible aim or urgency. This failure to exert maximum effort constitutes a dereliction of professional duty.

"Tactical Incompetence: I formally accuse Mikel Arteta of lacking the tactical prowess required to lead this institution. His failure to adapt to the match dynamics resulted in a disjointed display that left the team vulnerable and directionless.

"Emotional and Financial Distress: Supporters invest significant time, emotion and financial resources into following this club. By fielding a team that appeared indifferent to the result, the club has caused actionable distress to its international stakeholders.

"Misrepresentation of Brand Values: The club markets itself on the pillars of excellence and "Victory Through Harmony." The lack of fighting spirit shown against Bournemouth is a fraudulent misrepresentation of these core values."

He added: "Unless the club provides a formal explanation and a clear plan for immediate restitution of competitive standards, I shall proceed with further legal consultations to seek damages for the psychological toll and the loss of faith in the sporting product provided. Expect further communication from my legal representatives."
