Manchester City
Bayer Leverkusen’s Ibrahim Maza is back on Manchester City‘s transfer agenda for the summer.
The Premier League side’s interest in the 20-year-old isn’t new and they already looked at him last year.
In April 2025, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany of Manchester City’s interest, but a move never took shape last summer.
At that time, he was at Hertha Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen were able to beat the Citizens and others for his signature.
The attacking midfielder has scored five goals and contributed six assists from 38 games so far this season.
His Bundesliga stats this season are as follows:
Appearances: 23
Starts: 15
Total minutes: 1,443
Minutes per game: 61
Goals: 3
Assists: 3
Expected Goals: 3.34
Expected Assists: 3.68
Big chances created: 8
Big chances missed: 4
Manchester City return for player
Pep Guardiola’s side now rekindle their interest in the Germany-born Algeria international ahead of the next window.
That’s according to Dzair Sport Plus in Algeria, who took to Instagram to cover a short report on Manchester City’s desire to bring him to the Etihad.
They say ‘shock at City’ as Ibrahim Maza is firmly on the Premier League side’s radar for the summer.
The Bundesliga side ‘reject the offer’, without mentioning the details of Manchester City’s proposal. However, they make it clear that player is ‘not for sale at any price’ and demand €70m.
That’s all the report has to say, without mentioning or indicating whether Guardiola’s side intend to return with an improved bid of €70m.
4-4-2 relay claims made elsewhere that Bayer Leverkusen reject Manchester City’s initial interest and not the offer for the youngster, and demand €70m.
The German club have already turned down a €35m bid from Atlético Madrid, probably in the winter market.
Our take: Manchester City unlikely to pay €70m
The Premier League side would have made contact with Bayer Leverkusen to register their interest.
It’s unlikely for them to submit an offer and if that was the case, the UK and the German media have would have multiple reports on it.
Even if Manchester City are keen, it’s not given for them to spend €70m on a player who hasn’t played a full season in the top flight.
Ibrahim Maza’s contract is until 2030 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €40m.
