Chelsea star handed his lowest ever Premier League rating in blue after Man City loss

Chelsea played well in the first half of their Premier League fixture against Manchester City but completely collapsed after the restart.

Andrey Santos found things difficult as City went up another gear, though he was not the only one.

His midfield partner Moises Caicedo also had an afternoon to forget and was eventually substituted in the 82nd minute, with Liam Rosenior’s attention turning towards Manchester United.

WhoScored hands Moises Caicedo his lowest ever Premier League match rating as a Chelsea player

Caicedo’s performance against City was easily one of his worst in a Chelsea shirt this season.

In fact, WhoScored gave the 24-year-old a match rating of 4.95, which is the lowest he has received in the Premier League as a Chelsea player.

What has happened to Moises Caicedo?

This is not the time for Caicedo, one of the most important members of Chelsea’s squad, to be dropping a performance like that.

There are now only five games left to play, and Rosenior’s side currently find themselves outside the top five.

They are four points behind Liverpool and have Manchester United next. Caicedo and his teammates really need to step it up; otherwise, they are bound for a season in the Europa League or Conference League.

Moises Caicedo deserved low score

A 4.95 match rating is brutal, but Caicedo can have no complaints. The Ecuadorian was at fault for the third goal that Chelsea conceded after being dispossessed near his own box, while he did not do much defensively, which is unlike him.

According to Sofascore, Caicedo failed to make a single successful tackle or interception during his time on the pitch. He did not block any shots either.

That is not something you see too often, and hopefully it is not something Chelsea supporters see again. As mentioned earlier, Caicedo is crucial to this team. If the former Brighton & Hove Albion star does not play well, chances are Chelsea will not walk away from that game with all three points.
