'It motivates me':£87m attacker opens door to move when asked about Chelsea interest

Chelsea are already set to welcome four new additions this summer, and Strasbourg’s Valentin Barco is expected to be a fifth. But Chelsea remain in the market, and Yan Diomande is a target.

Emanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda will join Chelsea, while youngsters Datsan Satpaev and Denner will also arrive at Chelsea at the end of the season. Realistically, the latter two are likely to go on loan.

But that is not expected to stop Chelsea from adding to their squad. Another big turnover of players is expected, with plenty of interest in Chelsea’s current stars, and the Blues being linked with new signings.

SCENARIO: Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Yan Diomande but must sell one of their current wingers first…

Who are you sacrificing? 👋

One possible addition is RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. Bought by Leipzig last summer from Leganes, the Ivory Coast international has had a hand in 20 goals for the German club, and it has caught the eye.

Despite the incoming arrival of Quenda and Chelsea already boasting Pedro Neto, Estevao, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, Diomande is a big target for Chelsea with Liverpool also said to be keen.

Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenburg says Leipzig want £87m for Diomande, but they are also keen to hand the winger a new contract. Now, Diomande has spoken to Africa Foot, opening the door to a move.

“I’m here, and first and foremost, I have my health, and I work hard every day. Hearing these rumors about big clubs like PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and others interested in me only motivates me even more.

“I’m keeping a smile on my face, staying cheerful, and pushing forward. My job is on the pitch, and I’m fully committed to my current club. As for the rest, I have a team that takes care of everything.”

Chelsea have decisions to make before signing Diomande

While there is growing concern among Chelsea fans when it comes to signing young players, and the need for more experience, Diomande is a wonderkid. A supreme talent, now proven in the Bundesliga.

But do Chelsea need to spend a massive fee on another winger? With Quenda arriving, Chelsea will have five senior, big-money wingers. Decisions will have to be made if Chelsea make a move for Diomande.

Garnacho has been linked with River Plate, while Gittens is injured again: another hamstring problem. The latter is in the firing line with Quenda arriving and will be sixth choice if Diomande moves to London.

Realistically, if Chelsea decide to keep Quenda at Stamford Bridge this summer and bring Diomande in, then one or two will have to leave Stamford Bridge. Gittens and Garnacho could be the ones to leave.
