West Ham defender Axel Disasi may need to push through a move to the London Stadium this summer for the club to retain his services, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is currently on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, with no option to buy.

Claret & Hugh asked an insider what it would take for Disasi to remain at the London Stadium for the long term, and he replied that, in addition to the club staying in the Premier League, it would require the player signalling his desire to make the switch to the Hammers permanent:

“It’s whether he wants to stay and what division we are in.”

West Ham would really like the defender to stay

It is not concidence that that the club’s defensive record has dramatically improved since **Disasi**‘s arrival at the beginning of February.

In the 11 starts he has made for the Irons, they have conceded 13, five of which came in one match against Liverpool six weeks ago.

Alongside Konstantinos Mavropanos, he has formed a strong centre-back partnership that has been the backbone of the club’s revival over the past couple of months.

Chelsea will also have a say in the matter

Getting Disasi’s approval for the move would only be half the battle. Securing an agreement on the transfer fee with his parent club is another obstacle that would have to be overcome.

It is believed that one of the main reasons why a purchase clause was not included in the original loan agreement was because the Blues felt they could raise more money at the end of the campaign once he had played a few games.

Getting Disasi for a reasonable fee could be easier said than done, especially if there are other suitors.
