Chelsea and Arsenal monitoring Como boss Fabregas

Chelsea will aim to return to winning ways and end their recent dismal run of form when they host Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues were beaten 3-0 by title contenders Manchester City in the league on Sunday, meaning Liam Rosenior’s side have now won just one of their last seven matches in the competition.

The Englishman is under pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around, but it appears that those in charge of the club are already eyeing potential replacements for the 41-year-old.

According to TEAMtalk, both Chelsea and Arsenal are among a number of clubs keeping tabs on Cesc Fabregas’ progress as manager of Italian side Como.

The Spaniard played for both the Blues and the Gunners during his playing days and has embarked on a career in management since retiring.

Having ended his playing days with Como, the Spaniard initially managed the club’s under-19s, before taking caretaker charge of the senior side briefly in 2023.

Fabregas then acted as assistant manager for around seven months, before being appointed as Como’s head coach in July 2024.

The ex-Spain international has won 36 of his 81 matches in charge of the Italian outfit, and his is enjoying a particularly successful spell this season.

Como currently sit fifth in the Serie A table and are on track for their most successful season for more than 70 years, and Fabregas’ work is not going unnoticed.

It is claimed that Manchester City are also keeping tabs on Fabregas as they assess possible successors to Pep Guardiola, although the Citizens are also known to admire Enzo Maresca and Vincent Kompany.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are said to be monitoring the Como boss and have been impressed by his rapid development in charge of the Italian outfit.

Another of his former sides, Arsenal, are monitoring possible replacements for Mikel Arteta, with the Spaniard set to enter into the final year of his current contract in the coming months.

Despite this, Fabregas himself is said to be committed to his current role, where he is contracted until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
