Report: Chelsea player that started against Man City will now seek summer exit

The summer transfer window promises to be a busy one for Chelsea. One area that requires attention is in goal, and Liam Rosenior has made a decision – and it impacts Robert Sanchez.

Sunday afternoon saw Chelsea lose a third consecutive Premier League match. For the first time in 28 years, the Blues have lost three Premier League games in a row without scoring once in those matches.

Does Jorgensen deserve to start over Sanchez?

Five defeats in six, and eight in Rosenior’s 21 games as manager make for grim reading. Jorrel Hato may disagree with Gary Neville’s stance on Chelsea’s chances of Champions League football, but it is unlikely.

It makes for a summer of change. Chelsea are expected to target older players, with four new signings already confirmed and Valentin Barco set to make that five. One priority will be next season’s no.1.

Robert Sanchez to pursue Chelsea exit in the summer

According to a report from TeamTalk, Rosenior and the Chelsea hierarchy have made a decision on the identity of the goalkeeper they want next season. They have decided to place their faith in Mike Penders.

Penders will return from his loan at Strasbourg, joining Barco, Emanuel Emegha, David Fofana and Aaron Anselmino in turning up at Chelsea this summer. But what does that mean for current no.1, Sanchez?

Well, according to the report, Spanish goalkeeper Sanchez has no interest in being Chelsea’s back-up option. With Chelsea choosing to start Penders, Sanchez will seek a move away from West London.

Why Liam Rosenior has decided against Robert Sanchez

Since Rosenior arrived, Sanchez’s performances have been littered with mistakes. The two goals in the first Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, the one against Everton, Wrexham in the FA Cup and more.

Against Arsenal in the Premier League, Rosenior had his head in his hands when Sanchez almost lost the ball on the edge of his own box. Had Filip Jorgensen remained fit, Sanchez would likely be on the bench.

Rosenior clearly does not fancy the former Brighton star but as things stand, is left with the £25m signing from the Seagulls. With six league games and an FA Cup semi-final to play, Sanchez’s time is running out.
