Forget Ugarte: Carrick needs to axe another Man Utd star who keeps getting away with it [view]

Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte is often the scapegoat whenever he plays and the Red Devils struggle, but he's not the only one who is finding it difficult this season.

Michael Carrick's side suffered an incredibly disappointing defeat at home to Leeds United, in a game which would have given them a huge boost in their efforts to qualify for the Champions League.

There's a strong chance United do still finish in the top five, but it was a real opportunity for them to give themselves a comfortable cushion heading into the final few weeks of the season.

A host of players weren't at the races, while Lisandro Martinez disappointed supporters after being sent off for pulling the hair of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Carrick Needs to Make Selection Decision at Man Utd

Man Utd manager Michael Carrick looks on vs Leeds

It might be Ugarte who takes plenty of the criticism from the game against Leeds, but he's not the only one who let his team down.

It's been a familiar story all season, but Amad Diallo hasn't been hitting the heights expected of him, and Carrick has been relying on him too much since he took over.

The 23-year-old has produced just four goals and assists in the Premier League this season from 23 starts, which isn't enough for a side competing for the Champions League places.

Carrick has been reluctant to utilise Bryan Mbeumo on the right, instead dropping him for Benjamin Sesko against Leeds.

It wasn't Amad's worst performance of the season by any means, but he needs to start producing in front of goal to warrant a place in the starting XI so regularly.

Mbeumo's Time to Shine on the Right

Carrick has regularly rotated both Mbeumo and Sesko as the centre-forward during his tenure, but he should be looking to play both of them.

Amad simply isn't producing enough when it comes to goals and assists, and United need to be careful that they don't throw away their Champions League place.

Amad worked hard against Leeds and looked threatening, but his production levels need to rise if he wants to keep his place in the starting XI.

No player should be a shoo-in to start every single week, and it's time for a spell out of the team for Amad.
