Chelsea deal get done: Italian giants‘will listen’to Blues offer for£80M attacker

Rafael Leão could be on the move this summer after reports from Italian outlets suggest AC Milan are prepared to entertain offers for the Portuguese winger amid a challenging 2025–26 campaign. According to Fichajes, Milan’s willingness to sell marks a sharp change in stance after previously considering him untouchable.

Leão has struggled for consistency this season, netting only 10 goals and contributing two assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, and his relationship with fans has reportedly cooled — a situation highlighted by boos directed at him during Milan’s recent defeat to Udinese.

Milan’s sporting leaders have reportedly “frozen” talks over a new contract, despite the attacker’s current deal running until June 2028. With performance and behavioural concerns lingering, the club appears ready to make a significant change in their attacking unit once the season concludes.

A release clause in Leão’s contract — understood to be around €175 million — could be activated in early July, but sources suggest that realistic market valuations sit closer to €50 million given his recent form and fitness issues.

Interest from the Premier League remains strong, with clubs such as CHELSEA, Arsenal and Manchester United all linked previously with moves for the star winger — a scenario that could come to life this summer if Milan’s openness to offers translates into formal bids.

Which Premier League Move Suits Leão Best?

Manchester United emerges as a compelling destination. United’s attacking structure under their current manager favours pace, directness and individual flair — qualities that align with Leão’s strengths.

A move to Old Trafford would also place him in a side with Champions League ambitions and ample space on the left wing, where his ability to take on defenders could be maximised. The historic stature and financial muscle of United would make them well-placed to fulfil Milan’s asking price while offering Leão a platform to revive his career.

CHELSEA, on the other hand, represent a riskier project. While the Blues have shown interest previously and could provide regular Premier League minutes, their ongoing rebuild and lack of stability might not offer Leão the consistency needed to flourish. Chelsea’s tactical flux could also hinder his best attributes from being fully utilised.

Arsenal would theoretically offer an attractive playing style prioritising ball progression and width. However, Arsenal’s roster already boasts dynamic wide options, and Leão might struggle to command a guaranteed starting role — potentially dampening the move’s appeal.

Overall, United appear the best fit in terms of system.
