Schoolboy forward Kyran Thompson was amongst a contingent of academy players to train with the Arsenal first-team today ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Sporting.

Thompson, who can play as a winger or a forward, was joined in the session by centre-back Patrick Stachow and defensive midfielder Teshaun Murisa.

Marli Salmon also trained with the squad after being withdrawn at half time for the U21s against Crystal Palace last night. Salmon will be hoping to be named in the matchday squad for the first-team for the fourth game in succession.

Another defender, Joshua Ogunnaike, trained with the first-team after playing the second half for the U21s against Palace, with goalkeeper Remy Mitchell also called upon.

Arsenal have a 1-0 lead going into the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
