Matt Law says Chelsea should sell player who is ‘not an effective leader’ this summer

The Telegraph journalist Matt Law says that Chelsea should sell Enzo Fernandez because he’s not an effective leader.

Law has written a big article this morning detailing the ten Chelsea players he would be looking to sell in the summer transfer window, and giving his reasons for them.

He believes that Chelsea are facing yet another summer overhaul, whether or not they manage to squeeze into the qualification places for next season’s Champions League.

Fernandez has of course been involved in a lot of controversy and drama lately, speaking about his desire to one day live in Madrid, fuelling speculation of a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Law thinks the club should just send a message and sell him on in the summer.

In The Telegraph article this morning, Law says:

‘If he likes Madrid so much, or anywhere else for that matter, then let him go. Enzo Fernandez is a good player, but he is certainly not irreplaceable and he is not an effective leader. The problem Chelsea have is that they overpaid by spending £106.8m on him and it is highly questionable whether any club could, or would, offer a deal that would prevent Chelsea from making a loss on the books. Banning Fernandez for two games was slightly strange, but selling him would send a strong message that no player is bigger than the club. Giving in to his contract demands would be utter lunacy.’
