Chelsea latest: Cole Palmer crisis sparks season-defining twist

Cole Palmer struggles this season with Chelsea have become one of the biggest talking points at Stamford bridge. The man Chelsea fans once looked to for magic every single week now finds himself at the centre of a crisis that could shape the entire club’s future. With the season reaching its most critical point, Chelsea desperately needs their star man to rediscover his best form.

How Bad Has the Form of Palmer Actually Been for Chelsea?

The numbers do not lie, and they make uncomfortable reading for Chelsea fans. His last big performance came againt Wolves in the EPL where he scored a hattrick. Since then Palmer provided only two goals and one assist in 11 football matches for the Blues. Palmer has had to soldier on through serious physical problems this season. The body has simply not held up, and his performances have reflected that struggle.

According to the reports, the English midfielder has fell off in the Blue’s ranking. It’s doubtful that he won’t even be a top 5 players for them this season. That is a remarkable fall for a player who looked unstoppable just twelve months ago. His physical condition has dropped a bit as he became a quite less agile. It is a bad sign for the Blues.

What Is the Chelsea coach Doing to Fix It Palmer?

Liam Rosenior has not buried his head in the sand over Palmer’s dip in form. The Chelsea head coach recently revealed his plan to get more out of the 23-year-old during the run. Rosenior said, “You give him confidence, you point out the things he’s doing well, you point out the things that are still very, very positive in his game.

“***In terms of chance creation, I’ve gone through the stats. The chances he’s created in our difficult times were very, very high for the league. We just didn’t take the chances that he created.***“

Rosenior also made a significant call by handing Palmer the captain’s armband for the Port Vale FA Cup tie. The head coach explained, “***What Cole does and where he leads is he’s so brave, and he’ll take the ball on the pitch. And if he makes a mistake, he’ll take the ball and be positive again. That reflects what I want in this team.***“

There was some welcome news on the fitness front too. Palmer himself said, “***Physically, I feel good now. I can shoot again, do everything again. Now it’s a case of kicking on and performing.***“

Could the player Actually Leave the club?

Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich all said to be interested in the £150 million-rated England star. It’s highly expected that Palmer might leave the club.

Chelsea have rejected overtures from Manchester United towards the attacker and insist he is not for sale. The rumors about Palmer being unhappy have increased as Chelsea’s season has fallen apart. His boyhood fandom of the Red Devils means they are always painted as his most likely destination.

Former player Scott Sinclair suggested any club hoping to sign Palmer would need to pay around £200 million. A figure that would break the British transfer record.

Author’s Insight

Chelsea simply cannot afford to lose Cole Palmer this summer, especially with so much uncertainty already surrounding Enzo Fernandez’s future. The club needs to secure Champions League football to have any chance of keeping their prized asset. Palmer’s physical recovery is an encouraging sign, but form and fitness alone will not be enough. The Blues must show him a clear plan for next season. Without that, the rumors linking him to Manchester United and Real Madrid will only grow louder.
