Rosenior has walked straight into Graham Potter comparisons with ill-judged Klopp and Pep…

Liam Rosenior has compared himself to Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, which is something managers resort to before they’re fired.

Liam Rosenior’s time as Chelsea boss started well but is not starting to spiral negatively after a run of dreadful results.

After the defeat to Man City on Sunday, he was heard comparing himself to the Premier League’s top manager, noting that even they had needed time to make their ideas work, and asking the same for himself.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because Graham Potter did the same thing just a few years ago, as you can see in the video embedded here:

Rosenior walks right into Potter comparisons

These aren’t the only managers to have made that comparison. The problem is that, like the infamous “vote of confidence” from the board, few (if any) managers have ever come back from the brink after making these comparisons.

The difference is that those coaches had a winning track record, and despite not wining anything early on, showed signs of progress in the team and connected with the players quite clearly from the start.

If there’s one thing you want to do as a Chelsea manager it’s avoid comparisons with Graham Potter. Rosenior has walked right into this one.

In other news…

Seeing Marc Guehi play for Man City was painful for most Chelsea fans, including Joe Cole.

Another talent could be leaving soon – although Jesse Derry’s links away are only for loans.
