Arsenal are making big moves in the transfer market. Their sporting director Andrea Berta has agreed to sign a young and talented player, Holger Quintero. Many people think this signing could change things for Kai Havertz at the club.
Andrea Berta Taking Tough Call
Andrea Berta is the sporting director at Arsenal who joined the club in 2025. Prior to this position he had spent a lot of time with Atletico Madrid as part of their recruitment team. He has gained a reputation for making effective transfers and for building well-rounded squads.
He is primarily focused on identifying young players that can develop into future stars from around the globe, with an eye towards long-term planning. His job is to help manager Mikel Arteta make the squad better. Recently, he has focused on adding fresh players who can grow with the team.

Holger Quintero is a 16-year-old attacking midfielder from Ecuador. He plays for Independiente del Valle, a club famous for producing good young players. Holger is right-footed and very skilled as scouts say he has clean technique, great close control, and can create chances with killer passes. He is good at taking on defenders one-on-one and can score spectacular goals.
Arsenal reached an agreement to sign both twins and they will officially join the club in summer 2027 when they turn 18. Until then, they will continue developing in Ecuador. This is a rare move for Arsenal, as they do not often sign such young players from South America.

Kai Havertz Arsenal Career So Far
Kai Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in 2023 for a big fee of around £65 million. At first, he struggled in midfield. Later, he did well as a striker or false nine. But things have been up and down for Havertz as he has faced injuries, like a hamstring problem. Sometimes he plays in midfield, where he does not look as comfortable. The team has lost some games when he is there. Now, Arsenal have Viktor Gyokeres as the main striker, who is scoring lots of goals.
Holger Quintero is an attacking midfielder who can play in creative roles, similar to where Havertz has been used at times. With other young talents like Max Dowman also coming up, plus players like Eberechi Eze, there will be more competition.
According to the reports, Havertz has had mixed success as a striker. scored well in some seasons but injuries and tactical changes have affected him. He has played different positions like striker, attacking mid, and even deeper midfield.

What This Means for Arsenal?
Berta’s signing shows a clear plan as Arsenal want to mix experience with exciting young talent. Independiente del Valle has produced stars like Moises Caicedo and Piero Hincapie, so the club trusts their academy. Holger and his brother could take time to adapt to the Premier League.
However, if they keep developing, they could become important players in the next few years. Arsenal’s long-term plans keep them strong over the long run. Havertz has a lot of pressure on him to continually be at the absolute top of his game. Moreover, he needs to find a good position in order to not get passed by the new generation.
The addition of talented young players will help to make Arsenal an even more competitive team moving forward. Football moves fast and one smart signing by Berta could change the story for many players, including Kai Havertz. Only time will tell if this young Ecuadorian truly ends Havertz’s time at Arsenal.
