Chelsea have recorded a loss of £262m, the most of any side in Premier League history, and financial expert Kieran Maguire believes the club may have something to hide when it comes to their finances.
The Blues were already toeing the line with UEFA when it comes to the financial side of the game, and needed to sell big over the summer to register the likes of Joao Pedro and Estevao Willian for the Champions League.
They complied with this, and saw the likes of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku leave the club for big money, however no big names departed.

Chelsea have ‘something to hide’ after £262m loss
Maguire has already told The Chelsea Chronicle that Chelsea will have to sell more than they’d have liked if they do not qualify for the Champions League, and he also questions why the club have not been keen to publish their financial results.
He said: “One can only assume that Chelsea have got something to hide by not publishing their results, which, detail the 262 million pounds loss. At present, I’m pretty relaxed from a PSR perspective, because they, they booked the 270 million pounds worth of profits in the two previous seasons from the sale of the women’s team and, and real estate assets.

“So those two sort of effectively balance each other off. I’ll be more intrigued to see what’s going to happen in terms of player impairments and write-downs.
“It could be that they’ve decided to write off the signing of, Mudryk, for example. And if so, that’s a one-off cost which won’t affect the accounts for 2025/26, and is something which will therefore sort of disappear going forwards.
“It’s just a shame that. Chelsea seem averse to being transparent and showing the accounts in detail, after all, if you’ve got nothing to hide, why hide anything?”

Chelsea fans worried about big sale
While the Blues didn’t have to part ways with any of their big-name players over the summer, that fear is very real amongst Chelsea fans ahead of the upcoming window.
Enzo Fernandez has very publicly stated his admiration for Real Madrid recently, seeing him end up with a two-game internal suspension.
There are fears that he could push for a move away at the end of the season, especially after he has not put pen to paper over a new contract with the club.
Marc Cucurella has also been keen to share his love for Barcelona, although he signed a new deal with the club earlier this season.
