Report: The former Chelsea manager eyed to replace Antonio Conte at Napoli

It has now been more than three months since Enzo Maresca and Chelsea parted ways, and in that time, the Italian gaffer has been linked with many clubs. Now, he could replace Antonio Conte.

Maresca technically relinquished his position as Chelsea manager on New Year’s Day, but most are aware that his comments in the media left the Blues hierarchy with no choice but to relieve him of his duties.

Since then, the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella have questioned the club’s decision to remove Maresca. The man who guided Chelsea to a Conference League and Club World Cup double in 2024-25.

You can sign ONE player from Spurs if they’re relegated, who are you choosing?

But Maresca left Chelsea halfway through the 2025-26 season and has since been linked with a whole host of jobs. Manchester United considered Maresca after sacking Ruben Amorim, Tottenham did too.

But Maresca’s next job could well be one in his home country, returning to Italy to manage for the first time since leaving Parma. Indeed, the former Leicester boss could replace a manager loved at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte has endured a tricky season with Napoli. Injuries to his star players, like Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, has seen the Serie A champions crumble. Napoli have improved, sitting in second.

There are growing doubts over Conte’s position at Napoli, with the former Chelsea and Spurs manager recently throwing his name forward for the Italy job. TMW say Napoli would hire Maresca if Conte goes.

How Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior compare so far

Maresca ended his Chelsea stint with 55 wins from 92 games in all competitions, boasting a win rate of just under 60%. A decent record, along with the two trophies won during his spell in the Chelsea dugout.

Who do you prefer – Liam Rosenior or Enzo Maresca?

Let us know why in the comments!

Many would argue that since Rosenior’s arrival, Chelsea have got worse. Not much of that can be put on Rosenior’s shoulders, given he is yet to have a transfer window and has joined the club mid-season.

But Rosenior has lost eight of 21 games in all competitions so far. After 21 games at Chelsea, Maresca only lost four times. Big improvements are required if Rosenior is to avoid the same fate as Maresca.
