Arsenal willing to sell two stars to sign Atletico forward

Arsenal welcome Portuguese side Sporting CP to The Emirates on Wednesday for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Kai Havertz’s late goal earned the Gunners a narrow 1-0 victory in the first leg in Lisbon last week, but Mikel Arteta’s side have lost the other three of their last four matches across all competitions.

Last time out the north London giants were beaten 2-1 by Bournemouth in the Premier League, denting their hopes of winning the title.

Arteta will be desperate to see his side avoid an upset against Sporting on Wednesday, but in the meantime it has emerged that the Premier League leaders are eyeing an audacious move to sign a La Liga forward,

As reported by CaughtOffside, Arsenal are hoping to sign Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez and are prepared to sell both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz in order to afford the signing.

Alvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City in 2024 and has since registered a combined 64 goals and assists in 103 games for the Spanish side across all competitions.

His impressive form has put him firmly on the radar of Arsenal, and the report claims that the La Liga side could be willing to allow the Argentine to leave the club for a fee in the region of £105 million.

The Gunners would therefore need to sell players in order to fund a move for the 26-year-old, and it is claimed that Jesus and Havertz are among the current attackers that could be moved on.

Havertz joined Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea in 2023 and has since scored 33 goals in 104 games for the Gunners, while Jesus has netted 31 times for the club since a 2022 transfer from Man City.

Both forwards have struggled with injuries during their respective spells at The Emirates, and it appears that the Gunners are now willing to sell both attackers in order to raise funds to sign Alvarez.
