Arsenal are looking to bring in more defensive reinforcements this summer, with a top young centre-back near the top of their wish list.
They have a long standing interest in Real Madrid’s Victor Valdepenas, and now added to their potential targets is Como’s Jacobo Ramón.
The Spaniard join the Serie A club from Real Madrid last summer, and they have a buy-back clause and also inserted a 50% sell-on fee in his contract. That is likely to inflate his fee, because Como will still want to make some money if they decide to sell him.
The Gunners are looking for a long-term replacement for Gabriel, who remains a pivotal figure at the club, but at the age of 28, there are concerns as to how long he can continue at his current level, especially following several injuries in recent seasons.
Ramón is 21, and has been capped by Spain three times at under-level.
