Corriere: Vlahovic idea remains alive as Furlani goes cold on Barcelona star – the situation

AC Milan are looking for a new striker ahead of next season, but the chances of seeing Robert Lewandowski arrive are dropping.

Milan have had problems with their attack all season. Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic have battled physical issues as has Santiago Gimenez, while Christopher Nkunku and Niclas Füllkrug have not been able to contribute consistently after their arrivals from the Premier League.

So, the management are heading into another summer in which a top striker is needed. Countless names have already been linked, but it seems that Massimiliano Allegri wants a name with a certain weight, to guarantee goals ahead of what will hopefully be a return to the Champions League.

Vlahovic vs. Lewandowski

According to Corriere della Sera journalist Monica Colombo – who is always well versed when it comes to matters at Milan – there are already some preferences starting to emerge within the leadership.

For example, the CEO Giorgio Furlani doesn’t seem inclined to take a chance on Lewandowski, despite the fact that he is on an expiring contract at Barcelona. At 38 years of age, the Pole is in the twilight of his career and would represent a short-term fix at best.

Therefore, keep an eye on the outcome of the talks between Dusan Vlahovic and Juventus. The Serbian’s deal is also expiring and Champions League qualification could be key, so that game the weekend after next could carry some extra meaning.

Vlahovic has been the one that Allegri would most like, at least as per several reliable sources. The pair worked together at Juve and he very much fits the mould of being a typical centre-forward.
