The DR Congo international, described as 'incredible', joined Sunderland last summer in a deal worth £15m from Union Saint-Gilloise, and he has made 27 appearances in this campaign to help the team avoid relegation and enjoy a top season since coming up from the Championship.
The 21-year-old has impressed with his performances, and while Sunderland have absolutely no intention of allowing him to move on, that hasn't stopped interested parties from appearing.
Sunderland view the midfielder as a key part of their long-term project and want to push for European football next season, which has seen them refuse to even put a price tag on his head at this stage.
But with Christian Norgaard's move not working out, while Mikel Merino's best performances have come as a striker, midfield depth is necessary and if given any encouragement, they are likely to pursue a deal.
